2006 Baylor Bears FootballNow take a look at our 2008 Baylor Football Predictions! After 10 straight losing years, not a lot is going to be expected of the 2006 Baylor Bears football team. The truth of the matter is that this team is going to be a lot better than some of the ones in years past, but the Big 12 South is just too grueling to expect too much out of Baylor. The offense should be a little more exciting than last year's team that finished 91st in the nation, but a bad defense from last year could be worse after losing seven starters.
This year's offense will center around 5th-year senior Shawn Bell. He's a very accurate and intelligent quarterback who should have little problems in the team's new offensive scheme for 2006. They are going to try and imitate the Texas Tech attack, and with weapons like Dominique Ziegler and Trent Shelton to throw too, they could put up some big numbers this season. At running back Paul Mosley returns as the hard running attack the defender type of back, but the starter is going to be the speedy Brandon Whitaker. Both of these guys could put up some good numbers this season. The front seven is going to be inexperienced and will be lacking in size, which is going to cause problems when defending the run. That was the problem last season and yet the Bears are going to be worse off this year after losing five of their front seven. The secondary is actually pretty talented with cornerbacks Anthony Arline and CJ Wilson having lockdown capabilities. They will have to be if Baylor is going to be able to stop anyone. The team is lucky to have games against Northwestern State and Army early so they can pick up some wins and maybe some confidence. After that things are not going to look too promising with the only other games that they should have a chance at winning being home tests against Kansas State and Kansas and then when they travel to Oklahoma State. It looks to be another down year for the Bears football team. Stay in touch with every game on this year's schedule with the Baylor Bears website.
