2006 Bills Football
Other teams decide to go young, but the
2006 Bills football team brings back 80 year old
Marv Levy to try and turn their operation around.
Buffalo has struggled through missing the playoffs for
six straight seasons now and after finishing the 2004
year with promise, went 5-11 last season to the
disappointment of fans and management. We don't
see how bringing back Marv Levy, who has been out of the
league since 1997 is going to change things in the right
direction. Remember when another great coach came
back to the league after a long drought? It wasn't
a very good start for coach Joe Gibbs at Washington and
we don't see things being much better in Buffalo.
The team did bring in Dick Jauron who will replace Mike
Mularky. Jauron was with Chicago for a few years
but has plenty of experience, but was with the Lions the
last few seasons and we all know how well they have
done.

The offensive look of the 2006 Bills
football team will be uncertain at quarterback. JP
Losman was fed the starting position at the beginning of
last season before being replace by Kelly Holcomb.
This year they aren't making any promises to anyone and
letting the play on the field speak for themselves.
Remember when we told you that when making
NFL preseason picks
you want players who are taking the games in like they
mean something? This is one situation to watch.
Neither one of these guys is a top quality starter so
you are going to have to pick your poison and move on.
McGahee is a legitimate threat coming out of the
backfield, but teams stacked the line against him the
second part of the season and his production plummeted.
If you think he's going to do much better this season
then you are going to have to hope that both the
offensive line improves and one of the quarterbacks
steps up and actually does something through the air.
Buffalo lost their elite wide receiver when they let
Eric Moulds go to Houston. Now there are a volume
of mediocre players getting ready to step in with Lee
Evans, Josh Reed, Roscoe Parrish, Andre Davis, and
Peerless Price. Price went to the dumps after
going to Atlanta a few years back and is hoping to
regain some status in Buffalo. Evans might have a
decent year, but out of the bunch we think that Josh
Reed will be left holding down the bench. At least
if anyone gets injured they will have some viable
replacements.
The 2006 Bills football team focused on
defense in the draft and got a solid defensive tackle in
John McCargo out of NC State. This unit was 29th
in the NFL in total defense last season and 31st against
the rush. That is a big reason they let go of Sam
Adams Justin Bannan, and Ron Edwards in hopes of
bringing in some run stoppers. The linebacking
core is showing signs of age, as Jeff Posey and London
Fletcher are both over 30 years of age and Takeo Spikes
is coming back from that season ending injury to his
achilles. The Bills do have a little bit of depth
with Angelo Crowell who had a nice 2005 season in place
of Spikes. If any of the three fall off then
Crowell will be waiting in the wings to step in.
The team's secondary is solid with Nate Clements at
corner and rookie Donte Whitner taking over at strong
safety. Troy Vincent made the move from corner to
safety with relative ease and this unit should cause a
few problems for opposing passers.
The 2006 Bills football team will
contend with the Jets for the basement position of the
AFC East, but in a few years this team could develop
into a contender. The big question marks remain
with the offensive line and quarterback positions, but
don't be surprised if they make a surprise run and end
up near the .500 mark. Expectations are low this
season and this team is capable of exceeding them.
