2006 Cardinals FootballPrepare for the upcoming season with our 2008 Arizona Cardinals Predictions & NFL Preview! There are high hopes for the 2006 Cardinals football team despite a 11-21 record over the past two seasons. The team made a big splash in the free agent market when they signed Edgerrin James away from the Colts. He should help what was the worst rushing offense in the NFL last season at 71.1 yards per game on the ground. The Cards also added Milford Brown to give them help on the offensive line and Kendrick Clancy to help them stop the run. The team is expecting a lot out of this year's draft class, and Arizona is hoping to get contributions right away from nearly everyone except Matt Leinart, who the club feels was a steal at the 10 spot. 20% Signup Bonus when depositing via eCheck at SportsInteraction! Arizona wants Leinart to spend this year sitting and learning from a former MVP in Kurt Warner, but due to the fact that Warner hasn't played a complete season since 2001 you may find the rookie taking the field towards the latter part of the schedule. Warner has the ability when healthy, so keeping him on the field could be the make or break point of the year. James will immediately improve the offense, as he has gained over 1,000 yards in five of his seven years in the league. The Cardinals needed balance and he'll provide it. At wide receiver there isn't a better pair in the league when Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin take the field. After these two perennial Pro Bowl threats, there isn't a lot of talent. It would be nice if someone could step up and take some heat off. The team filled a need of depth at the defensive tackle position by going to the draft, so rookies Gabe Watson and Jon Lewis are going to have to learn quickly. Bertrand Berry is a Pro Bowl caliber player at the end position, but he needs the inside guys to take some pressure off. This group of linebackers might be the worst set of any other team in the NFL, with Karlos Dansby the only real standout who is good at coverage and rushing the passer. The cornerback spot is shallow and maybe classified as depleted if Antrel Rolle doesn't recover from his knee injury that forced him to miss almost all of last season. The safety position should be covered with the aging Robert Griffith and Adrian Wilson. People are talking about the Arizona Cardinals this year as a team that could sneak up on people and make a playoff run. It depends on the team's health, if they can keep all their starters on the field, and that means most importantly Kurt Warner, then this team could cause problems. The schedule is manageable and their division is weak outside of Seattle, but this team is a year away from the playoffs. We are going with the 2006 Cardinals football team to finish Under 8 wins at Bookmaker with low juice. NFL Predictions |
