2006 College Football Preview
When the fall rolls around and you are ready for more
action on the grid iron, the excitement will only amount
after reading our 2006 college football preview.
This portion of the site is to get you ready for the
upcoming season with details on which teams are going to
be among the best and which teams will most likely fade.
So let's get started by going through each different major
conference and seeing what is in store for 2006.
In the 2006 ACC
Atlantic football preview we think that offensively
Clemson is going to put up some monster numbers this
season. Of course the loss of Charlie Whitehurst is
going to have some lasting effects on this team, but the
school still has top talent at receiver and running back
which will help ease the transition. Florida State
is always tough in ACC play, and this year will be no
different as long as Drew Weatherford remains healthy at
quarterback. In the
2006 ACC Coastal
football division there are two
teams that really stand out, Miami and Virginia Tech.
Miami's Kyle Wright is a top notch quarterback who will be
throwing to more fast receivers and their defense should
be among the league's best. Beamer's squad at
Virginia Tech is always tough to beat, but offensively
they have a lot of questions heading into the season.
It'll be Clemson and Miami as the two teams to beat this
year.

Our 2006 Big East
football preview shows that West Virginia is once
again the favorite to earn the automatic BCS bid behing
star running back Steve Slaton. The team will also
be tough defensively and the amount of youth on that side
of the ball will give the Mountaineers hope for plenty of
seasons to come. Louisville is the key contender
with one of the most explosive offenses in the nation.
Brian Brohm and Michael Bush are a terrific 1-2 duo at
quarterback and running back, leading us to believe that
if the defense can stop anyone, the Cardinals are going to
have a lot of blow out victories this season.
As we move on to the
2006 Big 10 football preview, there are a lot of
talented squads here. The top three are going to be
Ohio State, Michigan, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Neither
of these teams are going to be able to complain about who
is under center as Troy Smith, Chad Henne, and Drew Tate
are among the best in the nation. Ohio State is the
favorite to win, largely because they are the most
balanced team with explosive athletes on offense and
defense, but if Michigan can get someone besides LaMarr
Woodley to step up on the defensive line then they could
contend. Iowa is depleted at linebacker with the
absence of Chad Greenway and Abdul Hodge to the NFL, can
the Hawks reload?
With the 2006 Big 12
football edition bring another nation champion?
It's possible, but this time the Sooners from Oklahoma are
the team that is on everyone's radar screen. The
team will be set at quarterback and running back with
Rhett Bomar and Heisman front-runner Adrian Peterson, but
they are also loaded with their defensive front seven.
Texas could make noise in the south as well, but they have
a big hole to fill in Vince Young and an early season
matchup with Ohio State looms large. The North side
isn't going to do much damage, with Nebraska or Iowa State
most likely coming out on top. Nebraska heads to
Ames this season which could give the Cyclones a slight
edge.
Is USC going to be the
2006 Pac 10 football
story again this year? Most likely as they are going
to be a force on defense and their recruiting classes keep
topping the national list under Pete Carroll.
California might have something to say about that as many
pundits are ranking the Golden Bears up there highly this
season with Marshawn Lynch at tailback and a talented
receiver in DeSean Jackson. Their defense will also
be tough, which doesn't say a whole lot since in the Pac
10 there isn't much defense being played.
Another grueling schedule for all the teams in the SEC conference lies ahead. A lot of teams
have a chance to make noise on their way to a national
title, but we are circling Florida, Georgia, Tennessee,
Auburn, and LSU as five of the nation's top 20 teams.
It's cleary Auburn and LSU at the head of the pack of the
2006 SEC West
football division. In the
2006 SEC East
football division it appears that Florida's schedule
is the toughest, with road games
at Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida State, but Urban Meyer
also seems to work his magical touch in the 2nd year at
his school. Auburn gets Georgia, Florida, and LSU
all at home, and with the starting quarterback and running
back returning poises a big threat to the rest of the
conference. LSU is probably the third most talented
team, but like Florida they have tough road games to be
played at Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee.
