2006 Heisman WatchStay up to date with our 2007 Heisman Candidates article If you like to bet on college football then you will want to stay tuned to our 2006 Heisman watch and possibly cash in on an individual prop bet. We are going to outline three different guys that you are going to have to keep a close eye on as we enter week one because they are showing value now, and we feel confident they will be in this Heisman race until the very end. Bet on games using your Credit Card with this Sportsbook! The first guy who we are going to take a look at and who we believe shows the best value on the board is Troy Smith, the quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Smith is going to have a very talented wide receiver to throw to in Ted Ginn, but the reason we like him so much is that he is very Vince Young like in that he can beat you with his arm and with his legs. Ohio State is going to contend for a national title and will get a big game at Texas early then at Iowa in September to solidify Smith's place among the tops in the nation. As always the fate of the Buckeyes, and of Smith, will be sealed when they get a visit from the Michigan Wolverines on November 18th. We know Smith isn't as flashy of a name as Brady Quinn and Adrian Peterson, but he's a guy that will be in New York this December. A guy who had a down year last year and who could sneak in under the radar this season is Chris Leak of Florida. This talented quarterback struggled a little bit to get a grasp of Urban Meyer's system, but with a year under his belt and a bunch of talented senior receivers there is no reason that he shouldn't put up big numbers this year. The Gator schedule is a tough one, so there are going to be plenty of times when Leak will be called upon to shine, and if he does so expect a few Heisman poses in the end zone. Big games against LSU, Auburn, and Georgia during a tough October will either make or break Chris Leak. For our dark horse we are going to go back to the Big 10 and Mike Hart. This talented running back for the Michigan Wolverines will get plenty of carries this season to help him garner monster numbers in comparison to his injury filled 2005 campaign. The talented junior is a bruiser who will also get plenty of chances to show what he's worth. The Wolverines big games come at Notre Dame, at home against Iowa, and at Ohio State. If Hart can eat up yards and keep his offense on the field against these three squads, he'll have a good chance of being selected as the Heisman winner. It will also help that he has experience at the quarterback slot in Chad Henne, but Lloyd Carr is going to rely on the ground game this year to get Michigan back in the title hunt. |
