2006 Kansas Jayhawks FootballNow take a look at our 2008 Kansas Football Predictions! Even though basketball still reigns, the 2006 Kansas Jayhawks football team is generating some excitement. The team needs to ride the wave of an impressive finish in which they won 4 out of their last 5 games. That finish included a bowl blowout against Houston in the Fort Worth Bowl. This team could vie for the Big 12 North title just because they do not have to face Texas or Oklahoma. Freshman Kerry Meier is going to determine just how far this team can go, but the coaching staff is raving about his raw talent and abilities. He is going to have to learn on the fly and his experience can be built against a couple of easy teams to start the year. He isn't going to have a good group of guys to throw to, with Brian Murph the only returning starter. At talkback Jon Cornish is ready to have a big year, mostly because the Jayhawks return a majority of their line from last year's team.
The Kansas defense will return only 3 starters from a year ago, but there is still talent on this side of the ball. The linebackers are the key. Gone is Nick Reid, the 2005 Big 12 defensive player of the year, but this group has more athletic ability and quickness than the three from a year ago. The secondary has Aqib Talib which is going to be one of the best coverman in the Big 12, but other than him this team is weak against the pass. This schedule offers hope for fans and a good chance for bettors to cash in on the over. The only real challenges on the schedule that we do not think they can handle are at Nebraska, at Iowa State, and at home against Texas A&M. Mark Mangino may be able to lead his team to 9 wins, a Big 12 North title, and a serious bowl this season. Don't miss any news on Kansas Jayhawk football by visiting their home page. Over/Under win Totals: Pinnacle: Over 6 -119/Under 6 +103
