Detroit Lions Predictions & NFL Picks!
There is hope once again for the 2006
Lions football team with a lot of weapons on offense
that are waiting to be used. The team lost Jeff
Garcia and Joey Harrington, which fans are not going to be
too disappointed about if either Josh McCown from Arizona
or Jon Kitna from Cincinnati can perform. Corey
Bradford is going to come in and challenge the young guns
to step up their games a little bit, but probably won't be
a key target for the team.
Offensively the 2006 Lions football team
should be better off with the addition of offensive guru
Mike Martz to the coaching staff. He wants to
install the same scheme that made the Rams so successful
so either McCown or Kitna is going to have to show they
can grasp the heavy playbook and be able to throw the ball
accurately down field. Neither one of these guys
started last season, but Kitna was explosive the year he
got the chance for the Bengals and is who we think will
get the nod. The team is set at running back with
Kevin Jones, who can carry the load and catch passes.
He should be poised for a big year as well. The wide
receivers are hoping to benefit the most from Martz,
especially stand out Roy Williams. Charles Rogers
and Mike Williams are a nice compliment, so it's time that
these three guys stay healthy and produce like they were
expected to do out of college. The team that ranked
27th in total offense last season should be full of hope
this season.

The 2006 Lions football team has an above
average defense and it is lead by one of the best lineman
in the league with Shaun Rogers. He is young,
strong, and is going to have to keep producing for this
team. He blocks kicks and gets to quarterbacks as
well as anyone in the league from the tackle spot.
The Lions do have three linebackers that are full of speed
and ready to make big plays. Ernie Sims was drafted
with the 9th pick in the draft and along with Teddy Lehman
and Boss Bailey are all young, good, and will take this
team into the future. The secondary doesn't have a
lot of big names outside of Dre Bly, who makes big plays
despite his lack of height. Daniel Bullocks out of
Nebraska should be able to step up and become a starter at
safety.
The good news for the Lions is that they
get a weak division to work with, but with a lot of
changes being made this season a decent record is all that
can be expected. This team is not going to make the
playoffs, but by the end of the season we will be able to
tell if a quarterback has been found and the receiving
corps is going to live up to their bill. When it
comes to their season win total,
Bodog has the team listed at 7 wins. We think it
very unlikely they get to .500 so go with the Under.
