2006 NFL Predictions
Before you place a single futures wager to start off your NFL football betting for this year you are going to want to read the NFL predictions for 2006 courtesy of Jimmy Boyd. This is where we take a general overview of how we think the season is going to pan out and then provide direct links to each team in order for you to get more details about how we think that squad will do. Let’s get started with the AFC.
The AFC has been dominating the Super Bowls in recent years and we think that streak is going to continue again this year with the eventual NFL champion being the Indianapolis Colts. It’s time for Peyton Manning and company to finally live up to the expectations and even though last year was a disappointment, they might have had better luck if catastrophe didn’t strike the Dungy family so late in the year. Even with the loss of Edgerin James this is the most talented team in all of football and there is no reason to think this offense is going to miss a beat.
The Colts may be our pick to win it all, but they are going to have a tough road in getting there as we see the division champions being the New England Patriots, last year’s champs in the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Colts, and the Denver Broncos. The AFC wild card is going to be another tough race but if the Miami Dolphins can build off the success they had to finish last year and get a healthy Daunte Culpepper under center, then they are going to be a force to be reckoned with. We have them making the playoffs in the final wild card spot due to the benefits they have in playing a weak NFC North as part of their schedule. The other spot goes to the Baltimore Ravens, who will finally get back to the top of the game with the acquisition of Steve McNair as their quarterback. The offense still is going to be much improved with a solid core of receivers, a guy who can throw it to them, and a horse gaining yards on the ground in Jamal Lewis.
The NFC is going to be the weaker of the two conferences again this season but the top teams will be able to compete. We think that the top choice to come out of this side is the Chicago Bears. The Bears will get the benefits of an easy division, which they should roll through and they will come out with the top seed and the home field advantage throughout the playoffs. This is going to be key for the team to get other squads in the chilly confines of Soldier Field. Their top competition will be the Carolina Panthers, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Dallas Cowboys who will all win their respective divisions. The two wild cards here are going to be the Philadelphia Eagles and the NY Giants, but the three teams coming out of the NFC East are going to be beating each other up all season long and we can’t see them making it deep into the playoffs.
