2006 Packers FootballNow you can read up on our 2008 Green Bay Packers Predictions & NFL Picks! For Brett Favre, the 2006 Packers football team can give him a resurrection or send him packing to the grave. The team hired the second youngest head coach in the league, has an aging quarterback who threw 12 more picks last season than anyone else in the league, and has a running back that will see his best days only in the rearview mirror. The off-season saw a lot of change, which is probably good when your team has it's first losing season since 1991. Antonio Chatman and Javon Walker are gone, with Marc Boerigter being the only addition at wide receiver. Ryan Longwell is off to Minnesota and the always unreliable Billy Cundiff will come in and take over the kicking duties. The team did shore up their secondary with the addition of Charles Woodson and AJ Hawk is a guy who can come in right away and make his presence felt at linebacker. 20% Signup Bonus when depositing via eCheck at SportsInteraction! Can anyone doubt Brett Favre? There are a lot of people who are after last season's dreadful showing, but he is a guy who doesn't quit and goes full on at all times. The fact that most of his bad decisions happened when the team was trailing and he lacked any other playmakers on the team give us hope he can come around this season for a final hoorah. The running back position is full of uncertainty with Ahman Green coming off a season in which he missed 11 games. The veteran is getting up there in years and has had a lot of wear and tear on his body, can he still be effective? The best hope is probably Samkon Gado, who performed well last season after coming in as what seemed like the 10th string running back. Either way the Green Bay ground attack isn't going to scare opposing defenses. Donald Driver showed that he could be a number one option last year when he grabbed 86 passes for 1,221 yards. Boerigter shined for Kansas City in recent years and will at least be another option for Favre. The 2006 Packers football team isn't going to have to worry about their defensive line, especially with Aaron Kampman and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila making huge plays. Ryan Pickett comes in from St. Louis to try and help with the rush defense that was 30th in the league last season. Adbul Hodge and Hawk will both provide a spark of energy in the linebacking corps to help Nick Barnett continue with his development. Woodson is entering his 9th season in the NFL and will need to regain some former glory to really help this team and Al Harris defend opposing receivers. Nick Collins was a surprise at safety and should continue to improve. The Packers may benefit from beating up on their division rivals, but games at Philadelphia, Miami, and Seattle along with a home game against the Pats are going to keep them from piling up a lot of wins. If this team reaches the .500 mark it should be considered a success and the playoffs are a long shot. The coaching staff is the most inexperienced in the league and wouldn't have been our choice to return this team to the glory days of the past. As bad as the NFC North is, getting to 7 wins seems like a stretch so our staff recommends that you bet on the Under 6.5 win total at Bodog.
