2006 Patriots Football
After a tough loss to Denver in the
playoffs last season, the 2006 Patriots football
team is looking to get back to the Super Bowl. New
England suffered some key names departing in the
off-season when Adam Vinatieri signed with the Colts,
Willie McGinest went to the Cleveland Browns, and David
Givens joined the Titans, but Bill Belichick has always
found a way to win and this year we think it's not going
to be any different. The team's only real key
addition was Reche Caldwell at the wide receiver
position, but just getting everyone to stay healthy this
year would be a huge bonus for the Patriots.

You can't talk offensively about 2006
Patriots football without starting with Tom Brady.
This guy is the heart and sole of the team with his
three Super Bowls rings and is going to be healthy again
this season after getting an operation on the sports
hernia that was bothering him much of last year.
Even with his injury problems he compiled more passing
yards than anyone else in the league at 4,110 yards, 26
TDs, and 14 INTs. Plan on more of the same with
him this season, but there will be more of a balance as
Corey Dillon will start the year healthy and even if he
isn't, the Pats got a solid backup in the NFL draft with
Laurence Maroney out of Minnesota. Both of these
guys should help improve the 24th ranked rushing offense
from a year ago. With there next three picks in
the draft the Pats went after targets for Brady, and got
a great one in Chad Jackson out of Florida. The
loss of Givens will hurt, but Brady will still have
Jackson, Troy Brown, and Deion Branch making this a
formidable air attack.
Defensively this line is almost as good
as it gets in the NFL, with one of the best players in
the league, Richard Seymour, playing at the end.
He had an injured knee that forced him to miss some time
last year, and you really got a good look at how much he
meant to this side of the ball with the team struggling
in his absence. Vince Wilfork came on strong in
the second half of the season and is a promising player
for this year at nose tackle. The Pats like to
play a lot of 3-4, but they are going to need someone to
step up at the 4th linebacker position this year.
Mike Vrabel and Roosevelt Colvin are perfect fits for
the outside positions and Tedy Bruschi should be in
better form this season after missing the first part of
last season due to an off-season stroke. The
secondary is going to be the team's weak spot,
especially if Rodney Harrison can't recover completely
from his knee injury.
The 2006 Patriots football schedule is
going to be very favorable for them picking up a lot of
wins and getting some home field advantage in the
playoffs. The AFC East gets to play the NFC North
which will only have Chicago as a real threat.
This team should be able to lock up another division
title, but the Miami Dolphins will be close on their
heels. We think the Pats will do some damage in
the playoffs before getting beat out in the AFC
Championship game by the Indianapolis Colts. 11-5
is the most likely regular season total, so bet the Over
10.5 at
Bookmaker and cash in on Brady and company.
