2006 Ravens FootballGet ready for the season with our 2008 Baltimore Ravens NFL Predictions! The addition of Steve McNair will put the 2006 Ravens football team over the top and return them to the playoffs for the first time since 2003. Finally the Ravens are going to have someone in Baltimore that they can depend on to throw the football. The team also picked up Mike Anderson from the Broncos to spell Jamal Lewis and save both backs for a playoffs run, and Trevor Pryce which should help with the pass rush. Baltimore didn't lose a whole lot that wasn't replaceable, making them a team to look out for this season. When do we talk about Baltimore and offense in the same sentence? Normally never but with the 2006 Ravens football team things could be a little bit differently. After ranking 24th in offense in 2005 the team needed to score more points so they went out and got McNair. If McNair continues to suffer injuries then Kyle Boller is going to have to step it up after two unproductive years as the starter. The running back position should be set once again with Jamal Lewis as he'll enter this season not having gone through four months of prison time served and hopefully will be more like his 2003 self when he ran for more than 2,000 yards. Mike Anderson will be able to come in and take some of the load off after piling up more than 1,000 yards for Denver last season. You aren't going to find many better one-two duos in the league. All of a sudden this team is full of pass catchers as well. Derrick Mason really stepped up to the plate and will be re-united with his former Titan tosser in McNair. He had 86 receptions last year and will get help from Mark Clayton, who was last year's top draft choice out of Oklahoma. Todd Heap is also a nice weapon as one of the top pass-catching tight ends in the league. After a injury filled 2005 he'll be ready to turn things around in 2006 and get back to the top of the game.
Defensively the 2006 Ravens football team will once again center itself around linebacker Ray Lewis and safety Ed Reed. These two players went down with injuries last season and the normally stout Raven defense suffered due to it. The line isn't real strong against the run, but should be tough on opposing quarterbacks with Pro Bowler Terrell Suggs on one side and Trevor Pryce on the other. Of course if they can keep blockers off of Ray Lewis then he should be able to perform as well as any middle linebacker in the league, and they should also benefit from former Oklahoma Sooner standout Dan Cody, who missed last season with a knee injury. You aren't going to find a more loaded secondary than the one in Baltimore with Chris McAllister, Samari Rolle, and Reed. They only allowed 185 yards per game through the air last season and that number should be lower this year with the pressure they will be putting on the quarterback. We see Baltimore finally making it back to the playoffs this season and could be a serious contender if McNair can relive some of his past glory. It was only 2003 when he was an NFL MVP and with the amount of weapons he'll be dealing with, this team should challenge Pittsburgh for the division. They haven't had success on the road lately, and they are going to have to pick up some big wins away from home this year if they want to take it to the next level. Our staff is betting on them to get over the .500 so bet the Over 8 wins at Bookmaker and cash in this winter. NFL Predictions
