2006 Texas Tech Red Raiders FootballNow take a look at our 2008 Texas Tech Football Predictions! It doesn't matter who is under center, the 2006 Texas Tech Red Raiders football team will lead the nation in passing. Mike Leach had four different starting quarterbacks in the last four seasons and yet the Red Raiders have been the nation's best passing team every year. This is a team that could contend for a BCS Bowl if they can win all the games they should and get lucky against either Texas or Oklahoma.
The best quarterback of the Mike Leach era could be at the helm this year in sophomore Graham Harell. He's got ton of talent and has been coached for two years on how to take over the team. Running back is going to be filled by the inexperienced Shannon Woods, but the top four wide receivers got significant playing time last season. All four of these guys are going to put up big numbers and comprise one of the top units in the nation. The defense actually fared pretty well last season finishing 18th in the nation when it comes to points allowed. It's going to be hard pressed to repeat those results because they lost two big playmakers in the secondary when Vincent Meeks and Dwayne Slay graduated. The front seven has a lot of experience and will be lead by a lot of seniors, but they are going to have to produce if Tech is going to do any damage this year. The schedule is naturally tough for Texas Tech as they are in the grueling Big 12 South. The team will face challenges when they go to TCU and Texas A&M, but those are games that the Red Raiders should win. However, a visit from Texas on October 28th and a trip to Norman on November 11th will be the season turners. Eight wins to us seems automatic with a strong likelihood this team ends up with ten.
