The best team in the ACC this year is the Virginia Tech Hokies.  With Branden Cox at running back and one of the best defenses in the nation, nobody will be able to take the Hokies lightly.  The schedule isn't the easiest, but winning national titles requires winning tough games.

The goods news for the Georiga Tech Yellow Jackets is that they get the Hokies at home.  This is going to be the game that decides who wins the ACC Coastal division, but without Calvin Johnson and Reggie Ball it will be interesting to see if the offense can generate enough points to keep up.

It doesn't look like this is the year the Miami Hurricanes will get back into the national spotlight.  There are questions at linebacker, quarterback, and wide receiver that we don't see a lot of answers for.  The offense is going to have to score points to let a good defense help them win games.

The best of the ACC Atlantic is the Florida State Seminoles.  The schedule is tough for these guys, but the talent is there on defense to keep the offense in games.  We are looking for some improvements after the massive amount of changes Bowden made to his staff.

The Boston College Eagles might not be as talented as FSU, but getting them at home might push this team into the conference title game.  With a senior quarterback, talented runners, and a host of returnees on defense this team wants to make a splash and could if things go right.

The biggest surprise of 2006 was the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, but they aren't going to sneak up on anyone this year.  With questions in the secondary we aren't really excepting a repeat performance, but the ACC Atlantic isn't out of reach for Grobe's squad.

There is a big dropoff here before we get to the Maryland Terrapins.  There isn't a reliable quarterback with experience, which should lead to a rough start offensively.  The bad news is that the meat of the schedule starts right away, so confidence building won't be a luxury the Terrapins can afford this year.

The Clemson Tigers had a lot of potential the last two years but couldn't close the tight games so missed out on big bowl games.  This year's team isn't as talented and has a little more bite to their schedule so we don't see them finishing above the middle of the pack.

With an easy early schedule the Virginia Cavaliers might be able to get the offense going with enough confidence to do some damage.  This defense will rank up there with the best in the league, but there are questions on offense.  With 19 players returning, fans are expecting more.

It's going to take some time for Tom O'Brien to turn the NC State Wolfpack around.  The defense lost a lot, and there isn't a reliable quarterback.  Couple that with a tough early schedule that will test the team early, and you'll find this group towards the bottom of the conference.

It's going to take a couple of years before the North Carolina Tar Heels are ready to compete in this conference.  The offense is young and has a lot of uncertainty outside of receiver.  The defense has a lot of holes to fill.  If they get two ACC wins this will be a good year.

There isn't much hope for the Duke Blue Devils this year.  Last year they went without a win and in three years the team is 5-34 under Ted Roof.  With everyone back on offense you would think there would be progress, but both sides of the ball were so bad a year ago that might not be good.
