2007 Alabama Basketball Predictions & Season
Preview
Even though last
year was very disappointing, our
2007 Alabama basketball picks,
predictions, and season preview
show that this team has the talent
to make the Sweet 16. When
Ronald Steele was hampered with leg
injuries all season long, this team
went from SEC title contender to
sub-.500 in the conference and a
first round knockout in the NIT.
Now the core of the team returns
with Steele, Richard Hendrix, Alonzo
Gee, and Mykal Riley to go with the
young talent that head coach Mark
Gottfried has recruited in recent
years. The key to the season
is Steele as he is not only the most
talented player on the team, but
also it's heart and soul.

Bama will have some tough, big guys in the middle to clog up the lane.
Hendrix, Yamene Coleman, Demetrius Jemison, and Justin Knox are all big, thick
guys who aren't afraid to bump bodies. Hendrix will be the go to guy and
has been working hard to improve his skill set over the summer. He put up
14.6 ppg and nearly 9 boards per game, showing his knack for getting to the
boards. Knox is an incoming freshman, but has loads of talent, Coleman had
flashes of brilliance but needs to be more aggressive, and Jemison couldn't get
into a rythm with his foul trouble a year ago. Alonzo Gee put up 12.6 ppg
last year, but has shown loads of talent and if he can put some consistency
together he'll be all-SEC.
With Steele hobbled a year ago he couldn't get to the basket, which really
put a damper on the Tide's scoring abilities. If he can come back at full
strength then this team won't have much trouble scoring, and he'll be regarded
as a top 5 point guard in the nation. Riley can shoot the three but he
needs to not kill the Tide on the defensive side of the ball. There is
depth in the back court as there are four or so players who have their own skill
sets, giving Gottfried the ability to mix and match to take advantage of
matchups with opponents.
You'll see the return of Alabama this year even though expectations are lower
than a year ago. It seems like this team is at it's worst when it's the
front-runner, but with expectations lower it will be a good year. You can
have a good year too with beating the
college basketball odds if you look to sign up with Jimmy Boyd. His
college basketball picks are the
best in the nation at beating the spread night in and night out, so if you want
to win more money this year, go with the best NCAA handicapper in the nation.
