College Bowl Predictions2007 Alamo Bowl Odds & PredictionsTwo traditional college football powerhouses are ready to collide in the 2007 Alamo Bowl. Penn State and Texas A&M will square away in the Alamodome in San Antonio on December 29th at 8 PM EST in a game that will be televised live on ESPN. This game is normally played between a pair of 4th-place teams in the Big 12 and Big Ten conferences and is one of the games that we look forward to each post-season. This year is no exception but if you want to do more than just have fun watching the bowl games, you should pick up a package of Jimmy Boyd's college bowl picks and profit against the spread and win a few extra bucks for the post-Christmas season.
The Aggies started the year off hot with wins in five of their first six games and they rushed for more than 260 yards in four of those games. The team then had to get to the teeth of the schedule when they took on Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. However, A&M finished their season off strong by beating the Texas Longhorns in the finale to keep the Longhorns out of the BCS picture and to get the Aggies to a decent bowl. The difference against Texas was that the Aggies quit relying so heavily on the run and added the pass in there to balance the attack. Quarterback Stephen McGee leads the team in rushing, but against the Longhorns he threw for 362 yards. He does have NFL prospect Martellus Bennett at tight end to help him move the ball. The defense though is extremely tough against the run, but opposing passers tore up the defense in all of the Aggie losses. Penn State might not have the weapons to take advantage as Anthony Morelli looked pretty weak against Big Ten competition. The Nittany Lions had to rely on the run like the Aggies did, as Penn State ran the ball more than 40 times in six of their final seven games. Rodney Kinlaw was the main force of the offense as he have more than five 100-yard rushing yard games in racking up 1,186 total yards. The defense was the main force of this team as they were second in the nation with 45 sacks, and defensive end Maurice Evans was a big reason why in picking up 12.5 on his own. Dan Connor will be a star in the NFL as he led the Big Ten with 136 tackles and after he's gone the Nittany Lions will still have Sean Less to fill his shoes and return his 124 tackles. Joe Paterno will be coaching in his 500th game for Penn State and he's done a great job over his career at getting his team prepared for bowl games. That and the Aggies not having their head coach are a few big reasons why the Nittany Lions are favored by 5.5. Oddsmakers predicted score: Texas A&M Aggies 28 2007 Alamo Bowl Odds: Texas A&M Aggies
