2007 Boston College Basketball Predictions &
Season Preview
When taking a look
at our 2007 Boston College
basketball predictions and season
preview remember that this is a
year team that has to replace a lot
from a year ago. It'll be
tough to repeat their 21-12 record
from a year ago in which they went
10-6 in the ACC. This year we
see them ending up towards the
bottom of the conference and missing
out on a fifth straight appearance
in the NCAA's postseason tournament.
Al Skinner has to fill big shoes as
the Eagles had two players from last
year's team drafted in the first
round of the NBA Draft, which was a
first in school history. Jared
Dudley was last year's ACC Player of
the Year and went 22nd and Sean
Williams, who was kicked off the
team in January, rebuilt his image
and ended up going 17th to the New
Jersey Nets. Some young
players are going to have to step up
quickly to keep BC out of the bottom
of the conference.

Tyrelle Blair might do next to
nothing on offense, but this guy
will be one of the top defenders in
the ACC at the end of the year.
This senior along with John Oats
will be expected to hold down the
paint while freshman Cortney Dunn
and Josh Southern will be asked to
come in and make an immediate
impact. Blair had 62 blocks a
year ago while Oats can stetch the
floor by shooting the three despite
being 6'10". Shamari Spears is
a 6'6" sophomore that saw
significant time last year but was
hampered in conference play due to
injuries.
Tyrese Rice will play a huge role in how successful Boston College can be
this season, and his play will factor in to how successful bettors are with
their college basketball picks on
the team. He averaged 17.6 ppg and 5.4 assists per game a year ago while
shooting 46% from the field. He is going to have to play the point and get
the ball to his team mates while getting his own scoring opportunities.
Biko Paris comes in as a freshman and if he can be effective then Rice may see
some time at shooting guard and be able to concentrate on scoring. There
are a couple of other perimeter scoring threats in sophomore Tyler Roche, who
played sparingly a year ago and a pair of freshman in Corey Raji and Rakim
Sanders. With the depth at guard expect the team to push the speed and
play up-tempo.
This year don't expect the Eagles to be a favorite when the
college basketball odds come out
for conference games. It's going to take some fast learning from the
youngsters in order for this team to win ten games for the third straight
season. More than likely the team ends up under .500 and heads to the NIT.
