Matt Ryan had 2,942 yards a year ago, but only 15 touchdowns to go with 10 interceptions. Ryan put those numbers up despite a broken left foot and with a full bill of health entering the season, he should have a nice senior campaign. At running back there is LV Whitworth and Andre Callendar who will be the first tandem in BC history to both reach 2,000 yards. They do want to improve on the 92th rank rushing offense though. Ryan will also plenty of targets to throw to with Kevin Challenger’s 47 receptions and 543 yards returning to join junior Brandon Robinson. The offensive line will be anchored by NFL prospect Gosder Cherilus.

The defense was stellar last year at creating turnover, and with nine starters back the Eagles are hoping for more of the same magic this year. The front seven returns all of their starters including Jolonn Dunbar and Kevin Atkins who lead the team in tackles and sacks respectively. The team’s only non-returnees come in the secondary where BC was the 59th best pass defense anyway so some young talent might provide the spark the team needs.

Boston College will be an interesting team to keep an eye on this year. The big game on the schedule comes November 3rd when they host Florida State. The winner of this game will go a long way to securing the ACC Championship game spot given to the winner of the Atlantic division. A home game against Wake Forest to start the year will find out what this team is made of as will a visit to Georgia Tech in week three. Visits to Notre Dame and Virginia Tech starts the second half of the season before hosting FSU and the Miami in the last week. The Eagles were 10-3 overall and 5-3 in the ACC and getting to those records again this year will be a good season indeed.
