2007 College Football Predictions & NCAA Football Picks

Written by Jimmy Boyd on August 19, 2007

With our college football predictions on the 2007 season we plan on going over every single one of the majorteams in order to get you prepared for the season. We will start by giving a real general overview of how we think the major conferences are going to turn out, and which teams will be fighting for the coveted BCS Bowls at the end of the season. We will even give our ideas on who is going to have a chance to win the national title, so if you like futures bets or you just want to see what a champion handicapper thinks of your school, then keep reading.

The first conference that we are going to take a look at is the ACC which we think will be won by Virginia Tech. This team was considered young in 2006 and they got to 10 wins. If Glennon can perform well at quarterback then this team has two big games on the schedule, at LSU and at Georgia Tech. If they can win those two then a BCS title game is in their sites.

Out west in the Pac 10 we think that the USC Trojans have the best chance of coming through. This team brings almost everyone back on defense and the offense has a lot of talent back except at wide receiver, which the school seems to have in bundles year in and year out anyway. As in recent years, the big game on the schedule is at California on November 10th, but the Trojans should win that and be in the running for another national title.

The Big 12 is going to come down to the Red River Shootout between Texas and Oklahoma. We think Texas has more talent and has a real chance at making the BCS Championship. The team will need Jamaal Charles to run the ball effectively to take the heat off of Colt McCoy and the defense needs to stop the pass. An undefeated season is a possibility. Oklahoma is talented as well, but needs to find a quarterback who can lead the squad if they plan on taking the Big 12.

LSU is our favorite to come out of the SEC. The team has gone 11-2 in two straight seasons and brings quite a bit back on defense. The loss of two top receivers and JaMarcus Russell could be tough to overcome, but Matt Flynn has played well at QB in the past. An easier schedule than the rest of the SEC should give them the best shot at winning the division and heading to the Georgia Dome. Florida lost a lot but had a great recruiting class to fill in. The problem is that they could be resting on last year’s successes, as it’s tough to compete year in and year out if you aren’t USC.

The Big Ten is going to come down to Wisconsin and Michigan. Personally we like the fact that Michigan has to go to Wisconsin so we are taking them for the upset. The Badgers went 12-1 last year and bring back a good meat of that team. The schedule doesn’t get tough until the last three weeks, allowing this team to build confidence heading into the home stretch. Michigan has Chad Henne, Mario Manningham, and Mike Hart, but the Wolverines lost a ton on defense. Like Wisconsin, their schedule picks up at the end of the season, but going on the road is the difference so we are taking the Badgers.

West Virginia has Pat White and Steve Slaton so you know they are going to rank up there in rushing and scoring again this season as both players are mentioned in the Heisman race early and often. The team has to head to Rutgers, who we think is the second best team in the league, but the Mountaineers have more than enough talent to take care of business. Louisville must also be mentioned as a Big East contender, but they’ll end up third in the running.

We are expecting to see USC and Texas fighting it out in a repeat of the 2005 championship game, but USC simply has too much fire power and will win yet another national title under Pete Carroll. Wisconsin, West Virginia, and LSU could all be right there in the running, and you won’t be able to count any of these teams out. It’s going to be another great year, and if you really want to build the bankroll up during the season then take a look at our college football picks. We will do our best to beat the college football odds each and every week of the season for our clients.
