2007 Duke Basketball Predictions & Season Preview
Jimmy Boyd's 2007
Duke basketball predictions & season
preview show that this team is
going to be back to being their
dominate force. This team is
going to be deep and while these
guys are young, when you are suiting
up eight McDonald's All-American you
know you have the talent to compete
with anyone in the country.
Three of last year's top four
scorers return with only Josh
McRoberts taking off for the NBA,
but DeMarcus Nelson, Greg Paulus,
and Jon Scheyer are ready to lead
this team back to post-season
dominance. They'll get plenty
of help and competition for playing
time from freshman Taylor King, Kyle
Singler, and Nolan Smith. Duke
lost their final four games last
year, something that was very un-Krzyewski-like,
but don't expect the same thing to
happen this season.

The front court has big shoes to
fill with the loss of McRoberts, who
led the team in boards and blocks
with 7.9 rbg and 82 rejections while
finishing second on the squad in
scoring and assists with 13.0 points
per game and 3.5 dishes. There
isn't a viable replacement on
offense, but David McClure, Brian
Zoubke, and Lance Thomas have the
size to contribute by rebounding and
defending the paint. King and
Singler both have decent size as
well but like to shoot the three
more than bang with the big guys.
The Blue Devils will only go as far as the backcourt can take them, but the
good news is that there isn't a more talented group in the country. Paulus was
slowed due to injury for the first half of the season, before surging to 20.6
ppg over the team's last five contests. He was more of a pure point guard
in his first season with the team, but turned out to be Duke's best three-point
threat a year ago. Paulus will get the chance to shoot even more this
season when Smith takes the floor. There are plenty of options with Nelson
and Scheyer as well. Look for this team to run the floor and shoot the
three with the best in the nation.
There are always a lot of college
basketball picks on the Blue Devils every time they hit the floor so you
have to take that into account when breaking down the
college basketball odds on this
team's games. If you don't want to do all the work in order to make this
season a successful one with your betting, then you should think about getting
signed up for a premium package with Jimmy Boyd today. There isn't anybody
in the business who can win more consistently than us so take advantage from the
opening tip through the Final Four.
