2007 Duke College Football Picks & Predictions
Not a lot of hope in our 2007 Duke Blue Devils preview and college football predictions article, but just because the team isn’t going to win a lot of games doesn’t mean you should ignore the school with your football betting. One of the biggest problems we find with novice and losing bettors is that they don’t consider how great of a number you get with the NCAA football odds on these teams that most people don’t like to keep up with and definitely don’t like to take. With Jimmy’s college football picks there will be no biases, just games that we think show value and will make you money in the long term. Get signed up today and experience the winning.
This team finished 112th in the nation in scoring offense a year ago, so it might not be a good thing that every one is back from a year ago. There are two quarterbacks who are back with Thaddeus Lewis from last year and Zack Asack from two years ago who had to sit out last year for grades. Lewis will get the nod after throwing for 2,134 yards as a freshman. The line is experienced which should give Lewis time to throw the ball downfield, which is what Ted Roof wants to do. Duke averaged less than 3 yards per rush, but Re’quan Boyette and Justin Boyle are thinking they can turn that around behind this line.
The defensive line should be better with Vince Oghobasse and Ayange Okpokowurk back to full strength for their sophomore campaigns. Patrick Bailey had 3.5 sacks a year ago to start on the other end. At linebacker there isn’t much experience, but Michael Tauiliili has led the team in tackles for two straight seasons and will keep things steady in the middle. The young secondary will be in a world of hurt if there isn’t pressure on the quarterback.
Duke went winless a year ago while ranking near the bottom in both offense and defense. It’s hard to see things getting much better this year, maybe then can beat Connecticut in the first game of the year, and the best chance for a conference win will be at the end of the season when the Blue Devils head to North Carolina to take on the Tar Heels. You won’t see Ted Roof lasting very long past this season unless a miracle happens.
