2007 Emmy Award Predictions & Odds to Win
Our 2007 Emmy Award predictions are posted below for the 59th annual presentation that will be taking place live on Fox on Sunday, September 16th. The stars are going to be out in full force once again, but if you want to add more excitement other that star gazing then you can place a few bets on the awards and take home some nice bundles of cash if things go your way. There is a great field this year with many deserving candidates in numerous candidates, but there can only be one winner so let’s get to figuring out who that will be.
Best Drama Series:
Sopranos returned for it’s final season and is the favorite to win the award. We can’t really go against the odds here as this was a great season, the show has done well in the past and it’s expected the critics are going to send the show out with a final batch of hardward. Heros was a fan favorite, while Grey’s Anatomy was the surprising underdog here. If you are looking for a long shot then take a shot with Grey’s, but if you want a close to sure thing then ride Sopranos.
Best Comedy Series:
The favorite to win here is The Office, which is a great show on NBC. 30 Rock got a little more attention from the critics than it did from audiences. Ugly Betty did well in the spot before Grey’s while Two and a Half Men continues to bring in the viewers. Entourage is right up there and is a fan favorite with the younger audiences, but this season was a little down in comparison to before. We are going to have to go with 30 Rock as Tina Fey is just too witty and funny for us to pass up on in this category.
Best Lead Actor in Comedy:
There isn’t a big favorite for this one as Ricky Gervais leads the way with his role on Extras, an HBO show that is produced by the BBC. He’s great in the show, but not many people are watching it which is why he is probably the best value as the favorite. Alec Baldwin was great in 30 Rock and is our favorite underdog. Steve Carell in the Office is pretty well-known as is Charlie Sheen, so these are a pair of guys that we think are overvalued in the odds makers eyes.
Best Lead Actress in Comedy:
This is a tough one as we want to throw out Felicity Huffman from Desperate Housewises, Julia Louis-Dreyfus from the Adventures of Old Christine and America Ferrera from Ugly Betty. Sure these were all great performances but Tiny Fey in 30 Rock was fantastic and Mary Louise-Parker in Weeds was great. Focus on these two ladies with your wagers as one of them will surely shine through.
Best Lead Actor in Drama:
Tony Soprano takes the cake here as James Gandolfini was once again just great. We love Rescue Me and Denis Leary but we don’t think he can get it done for the upset. Ride the Sopranos bandwagon.
Best Lead Actress in Drama:
This is an interesting category and we once again have to turn to cable for our picks. Sally Field was great in Brothers in Sisters as was Mariska Hargitay in Law & Order SVU, but Krya Sedgwick in TNT’s the Closer and Minnie Driver in FX’s the Riches were amazing. Add in there Edie Falco from the Sopranos and this is the toughest race to choose a winner from.
