2007 Georgia Basketball Predictions & Season
Preview
Our 2007 Georgia Bulldogs basketball
picks, predictions, and season preview show a team
that needs to win and win now. Dennis Felton has
been with the program for four years, and since the
program was left with almost nothing when Jim Harrick
made a mess before leading town, the fans have been
patient. However, the time is now as Felton has
had more than enough time to get his players in line and
put his system in place. The team hasn't made the
NCAA tournament in five years, and has only won one NIT
game in that time. While we think another trip to
the NIT is likely, the fans will be restless unless this
team gets called on Selection Sunday.

Georgia is going to be deep up front, with four solid players returning in Dave
Bliss, Takais Brown, Albert Jackson, and Rashaad Singleton. Brown as good
for 14.2 points and almost six rebounds per game a year ago, while the other
three played less and contributed in spots. Singleton is looking to have a
breakout year as a junior and with his 7'0", 270 pound frame he has the body to
make an impact down low. He was a pretty solid presence on defense,
finishing 12th in the league in blocks despite playing only 12 minutes per
contest.
Mike Mercer and Sundiata Gaines will lead the backcourt. Both of these
players averaged almost 30 minutes per game last year and finished in double
digits in scoring. Both of these guys can play either guard spot which
helps if either gets into foul trouble. Gaines was the Bulldogs leader in
starts, minutes, rebounds, assists, and steals last year and with his improved
three-point shooting he'll be ready to make his mark on the other schools in the
SEC once again. Depth is kind of an issue here, but Mercer and Gaines can
eat up a ton of minutes without needing much rest, however keeping those two
healthy will be important to Georgia's success.
