The first thing you can expect is
for the Hoosiers to be very good at
home. Indiana was an unbelievable
15-0 at home last season winning by
an average of 16.8 points per game
in those matchups. It was the first
time IU had gone undefeated at
Assembly Hall since the 1993-94
season. You may want to think about
considering the Hoosiers at home for
some of your college basketball
betting this year.
Last season Indiana had the kind of
success that has fans thinking they
can get back into the national
spotlight this year. They went 10-6
in the Big Ten Conference and
defeated Gonzaga in the first round
of the tourney before narrowly
losing to UCLA in round two.
Blue chip standout Eric Gordon,
Junior College Player of the Year
Jamarcus Ellis, and the return of
D.J. White, who led this summer’s
Pan American Game’s team in scoring
and rebounding, has Indiana poised
to contend for a Big Ten title. It
would be their first outright title
since 1993-94.
Second-year head coach Kelvin
Sampson proved to be the perfect fit
getting things pointed in the right
direction quickly in year one. That
has expectations for he and his team
sky high this season.
The frontcourt will be solid led by
preseason Big Ten Player of the Year
candidate D.J. White. IU has plenty
of options in the backcourt as well
and tons of competition for each
position will make these guards even
better. Eric Gordon is expected to
start at shooting guard. This high
school standout was ranked as high
as #2 in the class of 2007. He might
only see one year of college ball
before shipping off to the NBA so
the Hoosiers better take advantage.
The bottom line is that Indiana
should get strong consideration from
you futures bettors to win the Big
Ten championship this season. The
Hoosiers have playmakers at every
spot. A tough non-conference
schedule which includes games with
Kentucky, Georgia Tech, and UConn
should have the Hoosiers ready for
the big dance. I think Indiana is a
legit Sweet Sixteen team.
