Indiana's offense shouldn't be a problem this year, especially if sophomore Kellen Lewis can keep growing in his sophomore year.  Last season he had 2,221 yards and 14 touchdowns, but look for those numbers to jump in the spread offense.  He will have plenty of weapons to throw too as James Hardy returns with his 51 catches and 722 yards to go with ten touchdowns.  Marcus Thigpen and Demetrius McCray are both talented backs who can make plays happen out of the backfield.  This team will be looking to score close to 30+ points per game if things click right.

Defense however is the problem as the Hoosiers ranked 111th in scoring defense a season ago.  The returnees on the line will play a big role in how well this team can do this year because they'll need to get to the quarterback without relying on blitz packages.  Linebacker is a position the team should be alright with as Will Patterson joins Adam McClurg and Geno Johnson.  Both corners return and since the passing defense was better than the rush defense this could be a good thing, but without either safety from a year ago more big plays given up will probably be the norm.

Indiana is going to be an exciting team in Big Ten play since they'll be able to score, and teams will score handfuls of points against them as well.  The Big Ten schedule starts out promising with Illinois and Minnesota coming to town, and trips to Iowa and Michigan State could prove winnable.  However, after that there aren't going to be any games in which Indiana is favored, so getting their act together early and winning the ones they should are important, especially if they plan on a couple late upsets and a bowl game for the first time since 1994.
