2007 Kentucky Basketball Predictions & Season
Preview
An interesting year for Wildcat fans and
our 2007 Kentucky basketball picks and season preview
will show that this team isn't going to be much better
than they were in 2006-07. Tubby Smith basically
got ran out of town after ten years with the program,
even though he had won a national title and made the
elite eight three different times. Those kind of
numbers just aren't good enough for the faithful in
blue, and Billy Gillespie comes in from Texas A&M
knowing that the stakes are high. He's going to
have to win and win immediately. He'll have a
chance with this mix of young stars and veteran pieces,
but the front court is a little bit weak and that will
keep them from being a title contender.

There isn't really any experience up front. Perry Stevenson is the only
returning player who saw significant time, and that was averaging ten minutes
per game and not even getting to three points per game. He will have to
step it up a little bit in his sophomore campaign, especially on the offensive
end. The rest of the lineup is going to be filled with unknowns, with Mike
Williams coming in at 6'11" and 270 pounds out of England, Ramon Harris and Mark
Coury return as little used sophomores, and Jared Carter is hoping to rebound
from an injury plagues last season and off-season.
You'll probably be seeing some small linesup for the Wildcats this year as the
guard position is the team's strength. Joe Crawford wants to be a star and
he'll get a chance this year. He led the team in scroing a year ago at 14
ppg, and is the leading rebounder back from last year even though he only
grabbed four per game. He needs to get teammates involved and use better
decisions when shooting though. Ramel Bradley is another guy who needs to
be selective with his shooting trigger as he made only 42% of his shot a year
ago. Without any talent in the paint, making good decisions about when to
put up shots will be key. Jodie Meeks could be this year's breakout player
and Alex Legion will be a freshman who puts up points. Defensively Derrick
Jasper and Micahel Porter are solid, but don't even think about scoring on the
other end.
Kentucky is an interesting team and one in which the
college basketball odds are
normally skewed because of all the public action and heavy bettors in their
home-state. If you want to win more with your
college basketball betting
you'll find spots that are key to go against the Wildcats and jump on them.
Don't be emotional with your wagers. If you want a little help though
finding these weaknesses then there isn't a better handicapper in the nation
than Jimmy Boyd. Let his college
basketball picks help make this the best season you have ever had on the
hard court.
