2007 Maryland Basketball Predictions & Season Preview
Jimmy Boyd's 2007 Maryland basketball predictions and season preview show a team that we feel is going to finish in the middle of the ACC pack and be right on the verge of making the tournament. Whether they can make the step up to the tournament or are left holding the bag in the NIT will depend on a couple of swing games. The team lost three key players from the team that made the second round of the tournament a year ago, but those three guys should have instilled a good work ethic in the players that return. Gary Williams seems to be on the hot seat out there after the recent downturn since winning the NCAA Championship, and he needs a break through year to quiet his critics.
Senior James Gist could be poised for a great year if he can develop a low-post game. He is one of the most athletic players in the conference who is great defensively and improving on the other end. He can make the mid-range jumper but needs to be better close to the basket. He will be the vocal leader of the team. Another force up front will be Bambale Osby. Osby is a physical specimen who is scrappy and just gets things done. He'll start down low with Gist and should take on more of a role this season. Greivis Vasquez played significant time as a freshman and should prove to be one of the best guards in the ACC this year. He is very passionate on the floor, is a capable ball-handler, and can shoot from outside. He'll be joined by fellow sophomore Eric Hayes, who played in 34 games as well, but wasn't the threat offensively that Vasquez was. He can shoot the three, works hard, and is more of a natural point guard. The third guard spot will be filled either by sophomre Landon Milbourne, who missed a lot of time last season, or freshman Cliff Tucker. The other player will see quite a lot of time on the floor either way. Maryland has been a good team to go against with our college basketball picks the last couple of years because so many people are still stuck in the glory days. You have to remember how much of an effect the public opinion plays on the college basketball odds, and be ready to take advantage. Let Jimmy Boyd factor in all the angles for you and lead you to the promise land this winter, you won't regret it when you see how much cash ends up in your bankroll. |
