With this event just around the corner, if you haven’t yet done your research, you might want to start burning the midnight oil to get a good read on how the field stacks up against this gold course. If you don’t have that kind of time on your hands, Jimmy Boyd is here to bail you out with his Memorial Tournament predictions.

With this event just two weeks prior to the U.S. Open, we can expect the competitive atmosphere on the tour to really pick up as players start to prepare for one of the biggest tournaments of the year.

Player’s look forward to this tournament because of its difficult course. The tournament has been referred to as the “Masters of the Midwest” because the course designer , Jack Nicklaus, has supposedly lifted some features directly from Augusta National. The twelfth holes on each course are almost identical with diagonal, peanut-shaped greens fronted by water.

It is a shared opinion that the Memorial has been one of the larger, grander events on the PGA Tour. Many players view it as a tribute to Jack Nicklaus’ accomplishments on the golf course.

Tiger Woods sat out last year’s event mourning his father‘s death, but with his return to Dublin, Ohio in 2007, we can expect ticket sales to once again soar. We can also expect him to be near the top of the leader board on Sunday which is the same place he was in 2005 before Bart Bryant bested Sluman, Couples, and Toms to win the event. That goes to show you how the most unlikely golfer has a chance in this event.

Carl Pettersson carried on the tradition of lesser knowns winning last year at the Memorial. Master’s champ Zach Johnson tied for second and Phil Mickelson finished tied for fourth. You can bet that both of these notables will give the title a go this weekend. Make sure you find out who Jimmy Boyd is putting his money on in his 2007 Memorial Predictions.
