2007 ACC Basketball Predictions
2007 NC State Basketball Predictions & Season PreviewJimmy Boyd's 2007 NC State basketball predictions and season preview show a team that you aren't going to want to look past this year. There is talent on this team that went 20-16 and only 5-11 in the ACC a year ago, and not many people in the general public are going to realize it until it's too late. If you want some great college basketball odds early then look to take the Wolfpack against the spread against higher profile opponents. In Sidney Lowe's first year as head coach the team made some great strides and by the end of the year had made it to the ACC Championship game before winning a pair of contests in the NIT, generating a ton of excitement for Wolfpack fans as this season approaches.
You'll see JJ Hickson come in and make a big improvement for NC State's front line. This guy was no. 10 in Rival's 2007 prospects and no. 13 on Scout's Inc's list. He is a 6'9" power forward that will put some points on the board in his rookie campaign. The team already had a solid front court with Ben McCauley and Brandon Costner and now they are loaded. McCauley had 14.4 ppg, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game as a sophomore while Costner chipped in 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds for the team. These three will split time but also you'll find the Wolfpack doing whatever they can to make sure all three of these forces are on the floor at the same time. Depth isn't an issue either with Tracy Smith, another highly touted recruit planning on pushing the trio. Gavin Grant is a solid scorer that will see time at the two-guard spot and at the wing. He is a solid slasher who can hit the offensive rebounds, as evidenced by his 14.7 ppg and 5.3 rebounds per contest a year ago. There are three guys who are competing for the starting point guard spot, and if one of them can emerge then this team is going to be solid up and down the lineup. Farnold Degand, Marques Johnson, and Javier Gonzalez are all guys who could end up starting, even though Johnson won't be eligible until the spring semester. The offense will go as far as one of these guys can take them, and with the expectations high it will be interesting to see how the team reacts differently from it's underdog role a year ago. If you feel like you are ready for the season after reading this article, imagine how much better you will be able to do with your wagering if you had Jimmy's college basketball picks at your disposal each and every day. There isn't another handicapper in the nation who goes over the box scores as thoroughly as he does, and that's why he's known as one of the brightest minds in the industry.
