The offense will be relying more on the ground game this season and the trio of Toney Baker, Andre Brown, and Jamelle Eugune. Baker carried the ball 157 times last year for 688 yards and six touchdowns. They will be running behind a line that only has two returning starters, but those were their best two in guards Kalani Heppe and Curtis Crouch. Daniel Evans is the favorite at quarterback but there are others in the running. Evans passed for 1,843 yards but had 11 interceptions and only 6 TDs a year ago. The pass catchers though are talented if someone can get them the ball. Anthony Hill is a big target at tight end and John Dunlap and Darrell Blackman can both make big plays when their numbers are called upon. The Wolfpack defense will most likely be the weak leak. The line was dominated in the spring game by a less than stellar offensive line. That is bad news when the group of linebackers NC State has is smaller because they won't be able to make plays by shedding blockers. Passing against the Wolfpack was tough last year, they ranked 13th in the nation, and it will be once again in 2007. At safety the team has Miguel Scott and DaJuan Morgan, plus their corners have experience and talent. The schedule isn't going to do Tom O'Brien any favors in getting this program turned back around. The team has Boston College, Clemson, Louisville, and Florida State early. Home games against Virginia and North Carolina should give the team a couple of wins, and the finale at home against Maryland could get them up in the middle of the Atlantic instead of at the bottom.
