The offense finally kicked it in gear last year as the team ranked 17th nationally with 30.6 ppg and 14th with 332 ypg.  Head coach Bill Callahan hasn't named a starter at quarterback, and maintains that he won't until right before the season opener, but most believe Sam Keller will get the nod.  Keller is a talented guy who sat out last season after transferring from Arizona State.  There are plenty of receivers who can catch the ball as Terrence Nunn, Nate Swift, and Maurice Purify make up one of the best group of pass catchers in the Big 12.  At running back Marlon Lucky had 728 yards and six touchdowns on only 141 catches.

The concern of the defense starts right up front where the Huskers lost everyone from a year ago.  How far Nebraska goes and if they can contend with the big dogs will depend on how this group developes.  Linebacker is a strength of the team with Bod Rudd and Corey McKeon entering their senior seasons and both of these guys have speed to go sideline to sideline or get to opposing passers.  The secondary should also be set with a couple of solid cover corners and some hard hitters at safety.

Last year was a step in the right direction, but Nebraska wants to get back on the national scene.  Getting USC at home the third week of the year can get them off to the right start, then to end October the Huskers host Texas A&M before heading to Texas.  We are projecting a 10-2 kind of regular season then an appearance in the conference championship and a major bowl.
