2007 New Mexico Bowl Odds & Predictions

When the 2007 New Mexico Bowl odds were posted, it should have come as no surprise who the favorite was.  That is because New Mexico for the second straight time is playing in their home stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Nevada is heading to their third straight bowl game and their last two have been nail-biters with only a single point separating winner from loser.  Let's take a closer look at these two teams before you do any college football betting, but if you want the best chance at winning then you should think about picking up Jimmy Boyd's college bowl picks package.

It was a surprise to many when the 6-6 Wolf Pack made it to a bowl game, but not to us.  This team really came on at the end of the year after freshman quarterback Colin Kaepernick took over.  This team almost beat both Hawaii and Boise State and racked up four WAC wins late in the year.  Kaepernick is a name to watch in the coming years after he put up 19 touchdown passes to go with only three interceptions, and of course toss in the 542 rushing yards.  In a league known for offense Nevada is no slouch as running the ball is Luke Lippincourt, who led the league in rushing and touchdowns.  This team puts up over 39 ppg with Kaepernick under center and with a defense that is steadily getting better, the Wolf Pack have a real chance of pulling off the upset.

New Mexico is a steady Eddy who didn't lose back-to-back games all season, didn't make mistakes, and plays solid defense.  The Lobos don't have quite the power on offense, but shouldn't have to with the defense they have.  However, Donovan Porterie has some threats at wide receiver in Marcus Smith and Travis Brown, plus a running back in Rodney Ferguson that rushed for more than 1,000 yards.  While New Mexico isn't as exciting of a team as Nevada, they still know how to play the game and will probably have the edge in motivation since they are playing in front of their fan base in Albuquerque.
