Now take a look at our
2008
New York Giants Predictions & Season Preview!
There are plenty of questions surrounding
the New York Giants football team in 2007, and we think
the answers aren't going to be ones that the Giants fans
are going to enjoy. Eli Manning is going to have to
develop into a star quarterback for the team to compete,
and Brian Jacobs will have some big shoes to fill with the
absence of Tiki Barber. Tom Coughlin had trouble
keeping his team together last year with Barber in the
backfield carrying the team, so don't think they can get
to 8-8 and back into the playoffs without him.

It's hard to believe that Manning has been
around for three years now, as he still has his ups and
downs unlike almost any other quarterback in the league.
This is the year the Giants really need him to emerge as a
star, or else New York might start thinking he was a bust.
The team is patient in his development, but the fans are
getting restless. Jacobs is a strong runner but it's
uncertain whether he can carry the entire load. The
Giants weren't sure either I guess since they went out and
got Reuben Droughns, who has had a couple of 1,200 rushing
yard seasons under his belt. Manning will have
plenty of receivers to pass too as long as they can stay
healthy. Amani Toomer is 33 and coming off an
achilles injury, so it's uncertain how effective he can be
this year. Sinorice Moss has great potential, but
has been hampered by injuries early in his career.
Plaxico Burress is talented and should have a great year
after catching ten touchdowns a year ago. Jeremy
Shockey is as good as it gets at tight end when he's
playing up to his potential.
The defense struggled last season and a
big reason for that the pass rush couldn't get to the
quarterback and thus QBs picked them apart. On the
line there are two greats in Michael Strahan and Osi
Umenyiora, but Strahan is coming off a serious foot injury
and at 36 may have trouble returning to full strength.
The Giants have two strong linebackers in Mathias Kiwanuka
and Antonio Pierce, but need more out of the other spot.
The secondary was a trouble last season as Sam Madison
looked old and Corey Webster just not good enough.
The team drafted Aaron Ross out of Texas and he'll be
playing by year's end. Will Demps and Gabril Wilson
will have to perform up to their talent levels if they
want to keep their jobs.
One of the best bets of the season is to
take the Giants at under 8 wins. We really think
this team is going to finish in the basement of the
division and will be lucky to get to seven wins, more
likely ending up with six.
