2007 NFC Predictions

Jimmy Boyd's 2007 NFC predictions will be going over what we think is going to happen in each division, along with how the playoffs are going to shake out.  Last year we pegged the Bears to make the Super Bowl and made some of you who placed futures wagers on the team a lot of money.  That is what we do for our clients week in and week out with our NFL picks, so get signed up early and don't miss out on any game for the entire season.

In the NFC East we think the Dallas Cowboys will be the team that comes out on top.  Tony Romo is going to have to shake off that playoff game disaster from a year ago, and Wade Phillips will have to show that he can win as a head coach.  We think they come through and finish at the top of the division.  The Philadelphia Eagles are another team that we think are going to make the playoffs, but as a Wild Card team.  Andy Reid felt good enough about his team that he drafted a backup to McNabb for his first pick.  Washington had a down year last year, but they will bounce back a little bit this season and have a small chance of making the playoffs.  The Giants are going downhill fast and will finish in the bottom of the division.

The NFC North will be dominated once again by the Chicago Bears.  They bring almost everyone back and are head and shoulders above the rest of the division.  Everyone is ragging on the Vikings this season, but we think that they will hold down second place in the division.  The line is going to have to perform up to their salaries, but the ground game should be solid.  The Packers didn't do near enough in the off-season, maybe because they beat up on the bottom feeders in their last couple games and ended respectable.  Detroit is Detroit, so don't expect anything but a last-place finish out of this squad.

Seattle is going to once again take down the NFC West, but the gap is closing and this may be there last year atop the division.  The team is going to have to stay healthy, and Shaun Alexander's return to his MVP form of 2005 is a big question mark.  Arizona is the team we think is going to rise up to the second spot in the division.  This offense is loaded with weapons.  St. Louis is a team that is also stacked offensively, and is not getting much attention, but they'll be around fighting it out for one of the Wild Card spots.  San Francisco spent a lot of money in the off-season to upgrade their defense, but Alex Smith is going to have to progress as well.  Look for a setback to the 49ers as they are a year away from being a contender.

New Orleans came out of nowhere last year to capture the NFC South, but this year we see them capturing a Wild Card spot.  The team has a lot of weapons on offense, and the best QB in the NFC with Drew Brees.  This division will be won by the Carolina Panthers however, as this team always plays better when they are sneaking up on their competition and their backs are against the wall.  The Falcons hiring a college coach is just confusing after the way these guys have performed in the past, and the Bucs just might be the worst team in the league, but they are the worst team in the conference.

We see the Bears, Saints, Panthers, and Cowboys all making it to the conference semifinals with the Bears beating the Panthers in the NFC Championship game.
