2008 NFC
North NFL Predictions!
With our 2007 NFC North predictions
we see the Chicago Bears being the clear cut leaders in
the division. The rest of the teams are going to
fight it out for second, or to not get last depending on
how you look at it. This is probably the worst
division from top to bottom in the NFC, and that's with
the Bears being the best team in the conference.

1st Place - Chicago
Bears - With the Bears you pretty much have to look at
Rex Grossman to see how this team is going to perform.
If he can grow as a quarterback and mature into a player
who isn't a liability half the time, the Bears are going
to be headed to the Super Bowl. If he is shaky like
he was at times last year then there is going to be real
problems for the team when it comes playoff time.
The team will also have to deal with the losses of Thomas
Jones in the backfield and possibly Lance Briggs and Tank
Johnson on defense. Plus, Mike Brown and Tommie
Harris are both coming off season-ending knee injuries.
We were pretty confident in this team last season, but
this year there appears to be a few more holes.
Still they are the team to beat in the division.
2nd Place - Minnesota Vikings - The
Vikings figure this year to be a rebuilding year, but the
team should have an improved ground game with Adrian
Peterson joining Chester Taylor behind Bryant McKinnie and
Steve Hutchinson. How quick or if Tarvarius Jackson
can mature and develop his raw talent will decide how this
offense can perform on the field. Defensively the
team was great against the rush, but terrible against the
pass. The bad news is that the team didn't really
address their needs in the secondary and shipped out Fred
Smoot. The NFL is supposed to be about running the
ball and stopping the run, and this is going to be the
best team in the division in those two areas.
3rd Place - Green Bay Packers - What
to think of the Packers. The team finished with four
straight wins to give everyone a great deal of hope, but
Green Bay didn't do a whole lot in the off-season to give Favre some weapons. The team lost Ahman Greene and
will rely on Vernand Morency who only had 91 attempts and
2 TDs last year. The defense seemed to grow up in
the middle of the season last year. They are young
and should be improved this year, but don't be fooled by
the performances they had against teams like Detroit and
Minnesota to end the year.
4th Place - Detroit Lions - Detroit
still has Matt Millen, who has a 24-72 record since taking
over as team president in 2001. As long as he is
still there this team is going to be headed in the wrong
direction. The team has also had double digit losses
in six straight years so the precedent of success just
isn't there. The team has struggled with a pourous
defense and they just can't seem to catch a break in the
draft with busts at quarterback in Joey Harrington and at
wide receiver with Mike Williams and Charles Rogers.
Don't expect the turnaround to happen this year.
