2007 NFC South Predictions

Updated now our 2008 NFC South NFL Predictions!

The NFC South has had more turnover than any other in the league.  Every team has won a title in the last five years and all of them have been in NFC Championship games if not Super Bowls.  This year there shouldn't be as much change as the Panthers and Saints are clearly better than the Falcons and Bucs.  Both of those teams have a shot at making the playoffs while progress is the name of the game for Atlanta and Tampa.

1st Place - Carolina Panthers - The Panthers were the hot team on everyone's minds last season to win the Super Bowl, but this year they are being overlooked in their own division by the Saints.  We think they will respond like they always due when being under the radar, by having a great season that either puts them in the Super Bowl or NFC Championship game.  The team has 20 of 22 starters back from a year ago when everyone thought they were going to be great, and if this team stays healthy they will be a tough contender in the NFC and could be a team who can handle what the AFC brings.

2nd Place - New Orleans Saints - Everyone is talking about this team and they are one of the favorites to make the Super Bowl.  We think the team is going to have a hard time repeating what they did last season with team's putting them on the radar.  Last year, the team's schedule was fairly cake, this year they get to take on tougher competition and that will lead to fewer wins.  Still, this team could be a force to reckon with come playoff time as we still think they have enough fire power to make noise.

3rd Place - Atlanta Falcons - Too much change will be going on this season with Bobby Petrino taking over at head coach.  Mike Vick has plenty of problems to worry about off the field, and even if that doesn't reflect in his play, we still have our doubts whether he can lead at team at quarterback in the NFL.  Defensively this team has plenty of problems up front.  Even though their secondary is pretty solid, if passers have all day to throw then they aren't going to be able to cover anyone.  Plus their run stoppers from a year ago are gone and didn't get replaced in the off-season.

4th Place - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Tampa is one of the worst teams in football and there isn't too much hope for this team to get things turned around this season.  They are old on defense as the cast that won them the Super Bowl a few years ago was on top of their game way back when.  Jeff Garcia should be an improvement at quarterback, but there are still too many holes and not enough plugs.  Let's hope this team at least competes so Gruden can hang on to his job and try to develop some young talent.
