2007 Buffalo Bills NFL Draft Predictions

Now check out our 2008 Buffalo Bills NFL Season Predictions!

Buffalo made some serious strides last season on the defensive side of the ball, but their offensive performance slowed them down and kept them from being a playoff contender. The Bills ranked 30th in the league in total offense and tied for 22nd in scoring. You can look for the Bills to address the offensive line early in the draft. Tackles Jason Peters and Terrance Pennington would be decent backups, but they are not starters. J.P. Losman is showing improvement and the Bills have high hopes for their quarterback in 2007. Improvement on the offensive line is a must if the Bills want to have any chance competing in their tough Division.

With the 12th overall pick, Wisconsin's Joe Thomas will surely be gone. The Bills then must shift their attention to Levi Brown of Penn State, Central Michigan's Joe Staley or possibly Marshal Yanda of Iowa. The Bills have one of the best young wide receivers in Lee Evans, who emerged as the team's No. 1 wideout after catching 82 passes for 1,292 yards and eight TD's last year. The problem is that other teams can double team Evans because there are no big-name receivers to complement him. Peerless Price, Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish have a chance to develop, but they haven't produced like the Bills had hoped.

Wide receivers who will be options are Craig Davis of LSU, Ohio State's Anthony Gonzalez and Steve Smith of USC. Dwayne Jarrett is receiving much of the attention out of USC, but it's Smith who has the reputation as a harder worker and could be available in the second round or later. Robert Royal caught 23 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns last season at the tight end position, but cannot possibly be their answer in the long-term. Zach Miller of Arizona State or Miami's Greg Olsen will be two more options throughout the draft if the timing is right. If Losman is the Bill's answer at quarterback then he will need a plethora of weapons to throw at. A wide receiver and a tight end that can step in right away and perform coming out of the draft will help his cause.

Since Nate Clements, the top defensive free agent in the offseason, signed with the San Francisco 49ers, the Buffalo Bills will be looking to replace him in the secondary. They could take Derrelle Revis from Pittsburgh or Michigan's Leon Hall in the first round if they don't get the offensive lineman that they were hoping for. These two defensive backs have loads of talent and could step in right away. Offensive Lineman, wide receivers, and defensive backs are their top 3 priorities respectively in the 2007 draft.
