2007 Green Bay Packers NFL Draft Predictions

Now you can read up on our 2008 Green Bay Packers Predictions & NFL Picks!

With Brett Favre announcing that he will return for a 16th season, the Green Bay Packers have an idea which direction they want to go with their 2007 NFL Draft. But even with Favre back, there still are questions surrounding the rest of Green Bay's offense. With Ahman Green gone to the Houston Texans, the Packers have to address this issue at running back. Green Bay has the #16 overall pick and could definitely get their guy at this spot if they want to go that direction.

Marshawn Lynch of California or Louisville's Michael Bush would be ideal. Which ever player they select, they will surely platoon with Vernand Morency, who has been a backup for two years with the Packers and Texans. Both of these studs will likely be around when it's time for Green Bay to select, and it is almost 100% sure that one of them will be in a Packer uniform.

Green Bay could also use some receiving help. Greg Jennings was a solid second-round choice in the draft last season, catching 632 yards worth of passes for 3 touchdowns. He is only going to get better. He teams well with Donald Driver, but after these two players at wideout the talent drops off considerably. The Packers need Bubba Franks to return to his Pro Bowl form from the 2001-2003 seasons, otherwise they are likely to select a tight end in this year's draft if they feel Franks can't get it done. Bubba had a disastrous campaign last season in which he failed to catch a touchdown for the first time in his career.

The Packers have great cornerbacks with Charles Woodson and Al Harris, but their secondary was poor at helping them when needed. Marquand Manuel did not perform like the Packers had hoped, signed by Green Bay in the 2006 offseason. Texas' Michael Griffin could be very tempting as a first-round pick if he is available as well. If not, they will likely address this position in the later rounds.

With the knowledge that this will probably be Favre's last season, the Packers might want to add another quarterback to compete with Aaron Rodgers in the future. Green Bay will want to use a late round pick, meaning it would have three quarterbacks on the roster with limited experience, including Ingle Martin, last year's fifth-round pick out of I-AA Furman. The Packers will most likely take a running back first, safety second, and wide receiver next as the are the biggest weaknesses in Green Bay heading into the 2007 NFL Draft.
