Let's get started with the
AFC, the
conference that has dominated the Super Bowl in recent
years. Last year it was the
Colts who made it
through the tough run of the playoffs and took down the
Bears in the championship game. If you check out our
2006 NFL predictions
you'll find this was our pick to win it all and we had
them taking down the Bears. Hopefully we can do the
same again this year and put some extra money in the
pockets of our readers. In the AFC the team we see
as having the best chance to go all the way is the
New
England Patriots. This team is loaded with talent
and of course they have the steady Tom Brady and Bill Belichick to lead them
and shouldn't have any problem in winning the
AFC East.
San Diego is going to win
the AFC West. Even with all of the turnover they
have faced in the coaching staff, there isn't more talent
on any other team in the league. A pick that might
surprise some of you is that we are taking the
Jacksonville Jaguars to win the
AFC South, and the Colts
to make the playoffs through the wild card. It's not
that we don't have faith in Indy, but this is the year
Jacksonville breaks through. The
AFC North will be won
by the Ravens, who we think are going to peak this year
before starting their drop off, and the other wild card
spot goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who get back on
track after the distractions they faced a year ago.
The Jets,
Bengals, and
Broncos are three other teams that
will have a great shot at making the playoffs, but we see
them being on the outside looking in.
In the
NFC, the
Chicago Bears are still
the clear favorite to win the conference and make an
appearance in the Super Bowl. They return almost
everyone and Rex Grossman should be better this season.
Carolina will unseat the
Saints this season in the
NFC
South as New Orleans will battle it out and make a Wild
Card spot. The Panthers were too good last year to
miss the playoffs and flying under the radar seems to be
their strong suit. New Orleans over-achieved last
year, but they won't be flying under anyone's radar this
season. In the
NFC East the
Cowboys are the team to
beat, but the Eagles will once again be right there in the
playoff hunt and get the other Wild Card spot. The
sixth playoff team will be the
Seattle Seahawks, who will
continue to dominate the
NFC West. There is going to
be a battle for the Wild Card spots, but the teams we see
on the outside looking in are the
Cardinals,
Rams,
Giants,
and 49ers.
We hope some of these general predictions
will help you beat the NFL odds
this season, but if you want an in-depth review of each
division and team then just click on their name or
division to get a more detailed writeup of our opinions.
