2007 Oklahoma State Cowboys Football Preview & PredictionsNow take a look at our 2008 Oklahoma State Football Predictions! The 2007 Oklahoma State Cowboys football preview and predictions from Jimmy Boyd shows a team that is going to be better than their record will show at the end of the year. The team is talented on offense, and this program has really been turning things around by heading to a bowl in four of the last five seasons. Now the focus is going to be on defense, that is where head coach Mike Gundy believes the improvements need to be made to get this program to the Big 12's elite. He'll get a good idea of what it takes this season as he heads to Georgia in the opening week, then has a stretch at the beginning of October when the Cowboys have to go to Texas A&M and Nebraska in back-to-back weeks. There the month ends with a trip to Oklahoma before getting a home game against the Texas Longhorns. Expect another winning record and a bowl game out of this team, but a run to the top of the Big 12 isn't going to happen this year.
The Cowboys offense didn't have any trouble scoring points last year with an average of more than 35 ppg, good enough to rank 7th nationally. There are seven starters back from that squad and these players account for all of the passing yards, and over 75% of both the rushing and receiving yards. It's safe to assume that we think this team is going to score plenty of points again in 2007. Bobby Reid racked up 2,766 yards of offense with 2,226 of those coming through the air. This guy is a dual threat who the coaches want to feel free to run whenever he can. At receiver there is Adarius Bowman who gained 1,181 yards and 12 touchdowns on 60 catches. This is a deep position as three or four more guys are all threats in either the possession game or as a deep threat. Dantrell Savage and Keith Toston are both threats to run or catch out of the backfield and the Cowboys will use both to their full potential. The offensive line brings three of five starters back, but there are a bunch of quality guys who can step up in fill in. Defense has not been a strength of the team, so seeing four new faces along the line might not be a bad thing. The team lost their top three defensive tackles, but at the end spot there is hope with Marque Fountain and Nathan Peterson. Linebacker should be a strength with sophomores Chris Collins and Patrick Lavine both having good years as freshman. The secondary should be set with Martel Van Zant and Andre Sexson better than average, and more than capable fill ins at the other two defensive back spots. Don't expect this team to shut down many teams, but the coaching staff is looking to bend just over to let the highly potent offense break things open. We hope you use this article to win more with your college football betting this year. We love futures wagers, but we don't see a lot of potential for the Cowboys to win the Big 12 or do anything on the national scene mainly because of their difficult schedule. This doesn't mean that this article isn't useful because the early college football odds are based on expectations, and we see talent here. To see just what we think of their chances to beat the point spread each week you are going to have to pick up our college football picks package. You'll get Jimmy's favorite 6-9 games each week with analysis to back it up. Winning has never been easier.
