You can find information on contenders, the Pimlico race track, a history of winners, and Preakness Stakes odds at bodoglife to get the skinny on what’s going down on race day.

Of course, with Street Sense capturing the title in a memorable come from behind win at Churchill Downs in the Derby, Triple Crown talk has already surfaced. If Street can win the Preakness Stakes, he still isn’t going to be a cinch for the Triple Crown. Since Affirmed won the Triple Crown in 1978, seven horses have won both the Derby and the Preakness, but have failed to take home the trifecta. In fact, since 1875, 11 horses have won the Triple Crown while 42 have won 2 of the three races. History alone gives Street Sense a pretty good shot at Pimlico this weekend, but not at the Triple Crown.

Although Street Sense will get most of the media attention we should also give some of the contenders their shine. Hard Spun will be Street’s biggest competition but whet happened in the Derby is exactly what Hard Spun is known for and why I don’t think he can win the Preakness. He has been poor in sprint decisions lacking the finishing kick of stronger horses, but his fast starts help him to finish in the prize pool. A shorter track at Pimlico does help out Hard Spun this week.

Curlin placed third in the Kentucky Derby and will be among the most wagered on horses in the field of 14 in the Preakness. Curlin only has 4 races under his belt in his young career and the Kentucky Derby marked his first loss. The conditions should be more favorable for him as well on a shorter track less congested track. Imawildandcrazyguy was fourth at the Derby. In my opinion you’d have to be crazy to put your money on this horse at Pimlico. He is experienced on the track, but shouldn’t be mention in the same breath as the previous three horses I’ve mentioned.

Successful Preakness Stakes Betting can only be achieved by putting in the time in the research room and Jimmy Boyd is here to help soften the load. It is important to know key statistics such as of the 131 Preakness Stakes races, 67 race favorites have come in first. That’s better than fifty percent and might make you long shot lovers take a second look at Street Sense.

Make sure you’re betting with Jimmy Boyd for this weekend’s Preakness Stakes.
