2007 Preakness Stakes Picks

Written by Jimmy Boyd on May 19, 2007

Your search for 2007 Preakness Stakes picks is over. Our Preakness Stakes betting and predictions articles will provide you with all the information you will need to know to make a well-informed bet come race day.

The Preakness Stakes is a race where horse hunters can really make some money. Since it is ran two weeks after the Kentucky Derby, we have plenty of time to collect information and we have a big advantage having already seen the top horses run head to head at the Derby.

Every pony picker needs to know heading in that 67 of the race favorites have prevailed in the 131 runnings of the Preakness Stakes. That’s better than half. Although under-the-radar horses show much better value than favorites, you need to keep a close eye on the big names horses for this particular race.

Six of the last 10 Kentucky Derby Winners have also gone on to win the Preakness Stakes. With will no doubt have an effect on the odds making this year’s Derby winner an even bigger favorite than we might normally expect. If we feel that the odds on favorite gives you the best chance to win, we will advise our clients to look at the Exacta and Trifecta exotic bets.

The Exacta bet requires you to pick the top two finishing horses in the exact order of their finish. This will give us better value with our favorites.

The Trifecta bet requires you to pick the top 3 finishing horses in the exact order of their finish. If you like the Preakness Stakes to come in Street Sense, Hard Spun, and Curlin the way it did at Churchill Downs, this wager will give you an opportunity to get more bang for your buck.

After you read through our 2007 Preakness Stakes picks, I think you will find that exotic bets will be the way to go.

To give you a taste of some possible long shot winners, you’ll probably want to take a look at King of the Roxy, Teuflesberg, Mint Slewlep, Xchanger, and CP West. Teuflesberg ran at the Derby, but finished 17th in a track he wasn’t suited for. This doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get a long look on a shorter track with a smaller field. King of the Roxy and C P West will be fresh having sat out the Derby. This can also be the right recipe for success in this event.

There’s still time before wagering starts so make sure you take a hard look at each horse in the 14 horse field to make sure your money will be money well spent.
