2007 SEC Football Preview & PredictionsNow take a look at our 2008 SEC Football Predictions! There are a lot of good teams we go in-depth with in this conference, but our 2007 SEC football preview and predictions will give you an overview of how we think each school will do when the season rolls around. We hope you use this information to take advantage of early opportunities to exploit weak college football odds. The best way to build your bankroll though is to pick up a college football picks package. With our expert selections and in-depth analysis your college football betting experience will never be the same.
We will get started over in the SEC East, where the Florida Gators are both the reigning conference and national champions. This team has a lot of talent on offense to make another run at the BCS, but defensively only one starter will return from a year ago. They have had some great recruiting classes come in, but with so many new faces it could be a struggle. We still like them to head to the Georgia Dome by winning this division. In a close second we think the Georgia Bulldogs will do very well this season. The weakness of this team is the offensive line and the receiving corps, but a talented passer in Matthew Stafford should have this group growing up fast. With the best secondary in this division and a solid defensive line, this is going to be a tough team to beat in 2007. We don't see the Tennessee Vols getting over the hump and back in the race this season. Sure Ainge returns at quarterback and they have some talented runners, but the offensive line was weak last year and doesn't look much better this season. Defensively they lack true playmakers that could take them to the elite level of the conference. You would think the South Carolina Gamecocks are going to make a run sometime under Spurrier, and with his offensive genius and the best linebacking corps in the SEC, this could be the year. However, a brutal schedule finds all the big games coming on the road so we think the team will be stuck in the middle of the pack. The Kentucky Wildcats have Andre Woodson, who is the best quarterback in the league and Keenan Burton, who ranks up there as one of the best pass catchers. The problems come on defense with a line that won't be able to stop anyone, nor get to opposing passers and a secondary that will get picked apart. Jay Cutler has been missed on the Vanderbilt Commodores, but their problem isn't at quarterback as much as an inconsistent ground game and problems along the defensive line and secondary. It will be tough for them to get a single conference win this season. Out West, one of the best teams in the nation will take the field in the LSU Tigers. We are big on this squad after a couple of 11-2 seasons under Les Miles. The good news is this defense may be better than any he has had yet, and even though the offense doesn't have a lot of experience, they are loaded with talent. Offense is what is going to keep the Auburn Tigers a distant second to LSU this season. They don't really have a playmaker, but with a great group of guys on defense the team should be close in a lot of low scoring games. With Nick Saban returning to the college ranks to coach the Alabama Tide, the hopes are high. A good offensive line will give plenty of time to John Parker Wilson in order to get the ball to DJ Hall, but the ground game is going to have to do something in order to force the opposition to stay balanced. Defensively the front seven will struggle but the secondary is one of the best units in the SEC. The Arkansas Razorbacks had a lot of success last year, and they have Heisman hopeful Darren McFadden returning, but without a quarterback this team isn't going to do much damage. The defense is also pretty weak, and teams shouldn't have much of a problem throwing on this secondary. When you take a look at the bottom of the conference you will find Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Both of these teams are inept on both sides of the ball and will rank near the bottom of the conference statistically in every important category.
