2007 TCU Horned Frogs Football Preview & PredictionsNow read our 2008 TCU Horned Frogs Football Predictions! Jimmy Boyd's 2007 TCU Horned Frogs football preview and predictions articles shows a team that has top-25 in the nation potential and what should be the eventual MWC champion if they can pull off a win when they head to BYU towards the end of the season. There is a lot of excitement surrounding this school because of the money being spent on a new indoor practice facility and the renovations at Amon G. Carter Stadium to go with a team that has gotten to the 11 win mark in three of the last four seasons. The fans would love to see a BCS Bowl, but that would mean beating Baylor and the Texas Longhorns and taking down Utah and BYU to win the MWC. The defense should be good enough, with nine starters back on a team that ranked 2nd in total yards against, but the offense is full of inexperience and will get baptized by fire early.
The race for the starting quarterback position as people excited as both Andy Dalton and Marcus Jackson excited the staff during the spring. Dalton is a smart guy who already has a solid grasp on the offense to go with his accurate and strong arm. Jackson is more mobile and has already seen some time during key stretches of last season. The focus of the offense however will be junior running back Aaron Brown, who is the best all-around running back in the conference with the ability to break away with his speed and bust a few tackles between the tackles. He is also the teams leading returning receiver with 34 catches a year ago. There are three returning starters to a talented line, which should give Brown plenty of room to break free for some big gains. The receiver spot is a concern though with no true threats lining up. The defense starts strong up front with some talented ends in Chase Ortiz and Tommy Blake. Blake had 7 sacks in 2006 on his way to the All-MWC team. He has incredible speed and strength, but he gets most of the attention which opens up things for Ortiz, another All-MWC pick a year ago, to make plenty of plays. At linebacker the top four guys from a year ago are all back. Jason Phillips is the leader and was All-MWC a year ago, but look for David Hawthorne to have a breakthrough season. If there is a concern for this defense it's the inexperience of some of the starters in their five-back set. Couple that with a lack of depth and the team really needs these backs to stay healthy and play tough in order to get through the year winning as many games as planned. We hope this article will help you get your college football betting off to a good start, because there may be some gamblers out there who overlook this team, something that would be disastrous to do. If you sign up for Jimmy Boyd's college football picks package you will find that we do not discriminate and you'll find primetime games along with teams that you may not have thought to look at during the week. However, with the amount of time we spend each week in trying to beat the college football odds, there isn't a game with value that we overlook. July 30th, 2007
