Jimmy Boyd's 2007 UCLA Bruins
football preview & predictions show a team that is
on the rise. Even though they only went 7-6 a year
ago and 5-4 in the Pac 10, by beating
USC and keeping
them out of the national title game this team got on the
map. Use this guide to get off to a fast start
with betting on the Bruins, but if you want a little

The offense will be lead by junior Ben Olsen, who missed
significant time last season due to a knee injury, but
if he can produce like expected the passing game will be
solid. At running back is Chris Markey, who isn't
going to make a lot of big plays, but is a powerful
runner who can get tough yards. He had 1,107 yards
last year, but only 2 TDs. The team is deep at
receiver with a lot of experienced guys to catch passes.
With ten players returning on offense, the numbers
should be better than they were last year when UCLA
ranked near the middle of the nation.
With ten players returning from last year's defense that
ranked 9th in the nation against the rush, there is hope
that this could be the best unit outside of USC in the
Pac 10. The defensive line should be set if Bruce
Davis can repeat his 2006 performance when he racked up
12.5 sacks. This group of linebackers are smaller
than average, but are quick and smart to make up for it
with good tackling skills. The Bruin secondary is
comprised of four solid players, and we think this will
help them have one of the best pass defenses in the
conference.
UCLA gets
California at home, but has to go to USC and
Oregon
State. This team should easily make a bowl and a
pretty good one with either 9 or 10 wins most likely.
This is a top 15 team as the Pac 10 finally shows signs
of getting deeper. If things go right they could
win the conference, but that's unlikely. It would
be a pretty big success for Karl Dorrell's squad if they
can place second in the Pac 10.
