2007 Big East Basketball Predictions
2007 Villanova Basketball Predictions & Season PreviewJimmy Boyd’s 2007 Villanova Wildcats predictions and season preview highlight this young team’s chances at making its fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. It’s not going to be easy for the Cats who must replace three multi-year starters. Still, offense is not going to be a problem for this team as the Wildcats figure to be one of the highest scoring teams in the Big East, but how the newcomers do defensively will ultimately measure this squad.
Sophomore guard Scottie Reynolds will be Villanova backers’ best friend. He was
last season’s Big East Rookie of the Year averaging just under 15 points per
game on the season, but over 18 points per game in Big East play. Juniors Dante
Cunningham and Shane Clark will likely start at forward. Both are solid 6’8’’
athletes will comparable ability. They can both score and rebound. If freshmen
Corey Fisher and Corey Stokes are ready to go, we could see head coach Jay
Wright going with a three-guard look. You’re not going to find many teams across
the country with a more athletic starting five.
