2007 Wake Forest Basketball Predictions & Season
Preview
When taking a look
at these 2007 Wake Forest
basketball picks, predictions, and
season preview from Jimmy Boyd,
it's hard not to wonder what kind of
effect the death of Skip Prosser
will have on the program. He
had been a winner in his six years
as head coach, and had generated a
lot of excitement in the program.
While the first four years saw more
wins than the last two, there was
hope that this young squad was about
to rise above and make their way
towards the top of the ACC once
again. Now with this young an
inexperienced group and new head
coach Dino Gaudio, we aren't
expecting much out of the Demon
Deacons in 2007.

Center Kyle Visser has graduated so Wake won't have his 17 points, 7.4 rebounds,
and 1.4 blocks per game down low, so who will step up? There are four
sophomores, a freshman, and junior Cameron Stanley, who hasn't played much in
his first two years, all vying for time on the floor. While there isn't a
double digit scorer returning, the team also has to be worried about Jamie
Skeen's 4.6 rebounds per game being the most of any returnee as well.
Skeen has shown flashes of greatness but has a problem with consistency and
needs to stay in control of himself. David Weaver will start at center and
while he can run the floor and defend the lane, he is non-existent on the
offensive side of the floor. LD Williams should be a name to watch this
year. Williams is athletic and has great dunking ability, but can also
shoot the three. Everyone thinks this guy has all-ACC type talent and will
be looked upon to lead the young squad.
At least the team will have a decent point guard in Ishmael Smith. He led
the ACC in assists a year ago, but had trouble turning the ball over.
He'll push the tempo with his speed, but needs to take care of the ball a little
better in his Sophomore campaign. The other guard spot is a weakness for
the team as Harvey Hale and Anthony Gurley are not very good on the offensive
side of the ball. Hale can play tough defense against the oppositions best
guard, but will be pushed by Gary Clark who can shoot the ball from the outside
and gives the Deacons a little punch on offense.
This year will be a roller coaster with fans as there is a lot of talent to
match the inexperience that will be on the floor. If you monitor the team
closely you can probably find a few
college basketball odds worth betting on with these guys. Or if you
don't like to watch the games and check every team's box score, then get signed

picks and let him help you win more of your bets this season.
