Wake's offense wasn't very potent last season, but look for that to change this year.  Riley Skinner is only a sophomore but showed poise under center with 2,051 yards, 9 touchdowns, and only 5 interceptions.  He'll be asked to carry a bit more of the load this year and he should be capable.  Running back Micah Andrews returns from injury and should give the Deacons a more traditional running attack.  Last year Kenneth Moore gained 507 yards on 105 carries, but he's a natural wide receiver who will go back there.  The offensive line returns four starters, but is missing an All-ACC tackle.

The defense was of the bend-but-don't-break sort last year, giving up 322.5 ypg, 45th in the nation, but allowing only 15.4 ypg which ranked 12th.  The problem this year for the team will come in pass defense.  After ranking 82nd in the nation a year ago, the team lost three starters and the returnee is switching from safety to corner.  The front of the defense though should be tough.  Two dominant ends should be able to get to the quarterback and relief some pressure off the defensive backs.  The outside linebackers are both playmakers who have good speed.  The problem is that there is little depth down the line, so staying healthy will be of prime importance to the defense.

Wake starts the season off by going to Boston College in a game that could have major implications in the ACC Atlantic.  That game is followed by a home stand against Nebraska.  On October 11th they host Florida State then end the season in November at Clemson to finish off a relatively easy conference schedule.  Last year Jim Grobe surprised everyone by guiding the Demon Deacons to the ACC championship and an Orange Bowl appearance, doing so again will be tough but not impossible.
