You will probably see some growing pains with the offense this year as Jake Locker takes over as a talented and highly recruited freshman at quarterback. There is a big upside to this kid, but he'll take some time to develop. The good news is that Louis Rankin is talented enough to carry the ground game on his shoulders who can break a long run at any point in the game. There isn't a lot of depth at wide receiver and there isn't a player on the team who has had more than 32 catches, but they should have time to get open with a talented line returning. The defensive line is the best unit on the team and they have experience. All four starters will be returning from a year ago. At linebacker there is only Dan Howell coming back, but a pair of big play sophomores will have the chance to stand out. The secondary has been a struggle for the Huskies the last couple of years, and it looks like it will be more of the same this year. Tyrone Willingham has said he'll have to wait to see how the incoming group does in the fall before figuring out who will start. Washington is probably going to be better this year than the team that went 5-7 and 3-6 in the Pac-10 a year ago. The problem is that they have to play Boise State, Ohio State, and USC within the first four weeks. They will have to find a way to win at Syracuse the opening week, then beat teams like Arizona and Washington State on their home turf. A win at Stanford is also a possibility, but Washington could go this season without a win and not be that terrible.
