Check out Jimmy’s odds pages for his week 9 college football odds. Action gets started on Thursday this week so we have no time to waste. Jimmy has already begun dissecting these lines and developing early beats on this week’s action.
You can tell a lot about what the books are thinking by the line they designate to each matchup. Jimmy explains this in his weekly college football predictions articles. But let’s take the Ohio State/Penn State Big Ten matchup for example. All off shore books who we list odds for have opened with the Buckeyes favored by 3.5 points on the road with the exception of The Pig who is sure to bring in action on Ohio State with an opening line of 3. This game figures to be Ohio State’s biggest test of the season to date. A touchdown win at home against Michigan State last week does not have the bookmakers overly impressed with the number one ranked Bucks judging by this line. The close margin also reflects the advantage that Big Ten teams have had at home in conference play this season and that top ranked teams have been dropping like flies recently. Still, with the 3.5-point opening line almost unanimous, we know that books are looking for action on Penn State right out of the gate catching better than a field goal since number one ranked favorites always get a lot of public attention.
Let’s take a look at the Mississippi State/Kentucky SEC matchup as well. After pulling off a thrilling upset over LSU, Kentucky fell to Florida last week at home. Oddsmakers were not caught off guard as they had made Florida 6.5-point road favorites for the contest. They feel the Wildcats will bounce back big at home this week as all of our listed sportsbooks have the ‘cats favored by 13.5 points. The Pig has come in an extra half point under the competition again listing Kentucky as 13-point favs. As early money comes is on the Wildcats laying less than two TDs, we can expect the line to move in favor of Mississippi State. The Bulldogs will likely be catching more than two TDs by game time. For more insight on this week’s matchups, make sure you check out Jimmy’s articles throughout the week.
