The offense returns nine starters from a year ago, but the two that are missing will be tough to replace.  John Stocco had ammassed a 29-7 record as the starting quarterback, but he's gone and Allan Evridge will be his replacement.  Evridge hasn't had a lot of experience, but he's more talented than senior Tyler Donovan.  The other big loss is tackle Joe Thomas, who went early in the first round of the NFL draft.  If anyone can find a way to fill those gaps it's offensive coordinator Paul Chryst, who replaced eight starters from a record breaking offense a year ago to score 29.2 ppg.  PJ Hill gained 1,569 yards and 15 touchdowns last year as a freshman, and he should give the Badgers a potent threat in the backfield.

The defensive line lost Joe Monty, but this was a deep group last season and should be able to make up for the loss.  The team did rank 2nd in scoring defense and 2nd in passing defense a year ago, and with seven starters back this squad is going to be tough yet again.  At linebacker Elijah Hodge will step in along side Jonathan Casillas, who had 83 tackles a year ago.  If Wisconsin can have the sophomore safeties step up then along with the two junior corners, Allen Langford and Jake Ikegwuonu, this defense will once again be brutal to pass against.

Wisconsin has a great schedule this year which leads us to believe they will be contending for a national title.  With a great lineup of home games that includes the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Michigan Wolverines should guartantee another big bowl.  If they can win against Michigan and when they head to Ohio State, this is your Big Ten champs.  The good news is that the tough games come in November, giving Bret Bielema plenty of time to get his team fine tuned.
